Spiralite Gemshells

About spiralite: Estimated to be over 100 million years old, each of these gemshells is the unusual left-hand coiling kinds, which is a rarity in the domain of shells. Completely agatized and replaced by quartz druzies in a myriad of colors, each shell is a unique gem that treads the boundary between fossil and crystal. These fossils are found embedded in an extremely hard, rocky matrix under the Tethys Sea in Central India and each one has to be carefully extracted by hand. Less than 5% of all specimens so extracted have any usable druzy formations. These shells represent one of the finest creations of Mother Nature, unparalleled in beauty and rarity.
